Projects and files

Saving, recovering, reordering files and finding moved recordings.

Saving

A project is a Kaddro file with all edits, the transcript, settings and a thumbnail. It points to your recordings but doesn't copy them. Save with ⌘S (Ctrl+S): the first time Kaddro suggests a place next to the recordings. Save As (⇧⌘S / Ctrl+Shift+S) makes a copy under a new name.

If you move the project together with its recordings, it keeps working.

Recovering after a crash

Kaddro keeps saving your edits in the background. If it closes unexpectedly, the next launch offers to recover the unsaved work.

Recent projects and exports

The start screen shows recent projects with the step you reached, and recently exported videos. Projects whose files are gone from the disk are not shown.

Order and set of files

  • You can drag the project's files into another order, add new ones or remove some.
  • If a change shifts the times, Kaddro warns you first: found retakes, cuts, muting, found sounds and chapters are reset, settings are kept. New files that come after the existing ones reset nothing.
  • Removing a file from the project does not delete it from the disk.

If a recording was moved or renamed

A missing file keeps its place as silence and a black frame with a mark, and export is blocked until it is found. Point to its new location in the project's file list. Kaddro checks the content: another recording with the same name won't do.

Starting over

You can undo all hand-made edits and settings in one step — the project returns to how a freshly opened recording looks. Chapters, retake markers, file order and the recognition model are kept. This can be undone too.
