Keyboard shortcuts

The default keys, and how to change them.

Every key can be changed in the keyboard shortcut settings, where you can also reset them to the defaults. On Windows, use Ctrl where a Mac uses ⌘.

File and project

  • ⌘O — open, ⇧⌘O — add files
  • ⌘S — save, ⇧⌘S — save as
  • ⌘W — close the project
  • ⌘1–⌘6 — go to a step
  • ⌘, — settings

Editing

  • ⌘Z — undo, ⇧⌘Z (Windows: Ctrl+Y) — redo
  • I / O — selection start / end at the playhead
  • Delete — cut the selection; on a cut stretch — bring it back
  • M — mute the selection
  • D — mark the selection as a retake
  • B — bookmark; Esc — clear the selection

Playback

  • Space — play / pause
  • [ / ] — previous / next chapter
  • Shift+[ / Shift+] — previous / next bookmark
  • ← / → — previous / next found sound in Cleanup, previous / next retake in Retakes, previous / next D mark in the other steps. They no longer switch the step.
  • A click on the preview — play / pause

While recording

These keys work even when another app is in front:

  • Stop: ⌃⌘Esc (Windows: Ctrl+Win+Esc)
  • Start a new file: ⌃⌘N (Ctrl+Alt+N)
  • Retake marker: /
  • Drawing: ⌃⌘D (Ctrl+Alt+D), clear — ⌃⌘C (Ctrl+Alt+C), undo a line — ⌃⌘Z (Ctrl+Alt+Z)
Keys follow their physical position, so they work with any keyboard layout.
