Your first project

From a raw recording to a finished video, step by step.

Editing in Kaddro is six steps in a row. Each step sees and hears the result of the ones before it, and you can go back to any of them.

1. Open a recording

  • Drop a video onto Kaddro's window or choose files. You can open several files or a whole folder at once — they are joined into one video in the order they were created.
  • Or record your screen right in Kaddro.

The first frame appears within seconds. While Kaddro analyses the sound, progress shows on the timeline; you can edit as soon as it finishes.

2. Go through the steps

  1. Retakes. Recognise speech and remove failed takes. Kaddro finds them by markers, code words and repeated phrases.
  2. Cleanup. Shorten pauses; remove breaths, clicks, noise and unwanted stretches.
  3. Sound. Even out the files' loudness, make the voice clearer and set the final loudness.
  4. Crop. Keep only the part of the screen you need.
  5. Length. Say how long the video should be — Kaddro finds the speed.
  6. Export. Choose size and quality, and save the finished video.

Switch steps at any time, also with ⌘1–⌘6 on a Mac or Ctrl+1–6 on Windows.

On the timeline

  • A stretch you select shows its length in the lower right corner, without the parts already cut.
  • Another step opens with the playhead at the same place on the timeline, and the timeline scrolls to it.
  • Delete cuts the selection without resetting the timeline's zoom.

Your files are safe

Kaddro never changes your original recordings. Everything you do is an edit on top of them that can be undone. The finished video is saved as a separate file.

Save the project to come back later: it keeps every edit, the transcript and your settings.
