The retake marker

Mark a failed take with one key while you record.

Slipped up? Press the marker key and say the line again. Kaddro later finds the marker and cuts the failed attempt by itself.

How it works

  1. While recording, press the marker key — / by default.
  2. Kaddro plays a short bell, and it goes into the recording.
  3. When editing, Kaddro finds the bell and, if speech is recognised, works out where the failed attempt began and cuts it together with the bell.

What it needs

  • System audio on in the recording. The computer plays the bell, so without system audio it isn't heard.
  • An audible volume on the computer.
  • A key assigned. Change it in the keyboard shortcut settings. The bell's sound is in the settings too: three to choose from.

Check it all with a test recording: press the key during the test and Kaddro says whether it heard the marker.

Without a transcript

If speech isn't recognised yet, Kaddro cuts only the bell itself, and you'll need to cut the failed attempt by hand. Recognise speech to have retakes cut completely.

While recording, / acts as the marker in any app. If you need to type that character during a recording, give the marker another key.
